Cherished memories have a sacredness that deserves our attention; a chance to 

contemplate our roots and times in life when we remember so much love. 

Capturing memories with my camera has always been a love of mine. Now, creating art from those images is my new passion. I’ve always thought this reference deserved a special place, and now it has one.  Framed for display on a wall in my home, I remember this moment often. 

I hope this piece takes you back to your treasured memories. More importantly, gives you pause to realize the importance of being present in the moments ahead. Capture those memories to come with all your heart & soul.

For this work, I chose my favorite portrait techniques: Painting quickly and loosely brings me joy! Letting the wet pigment settle on dry paper, leaving unblended edges for a painterly effect on the face and hands; creating soft edges and allowing pigments to bloom, pushed around by water, in a few places as well. I'm honored to share that this piece was juried into the 2025 Idaho Watercolor Society's Annual Juried Exhibition & also was awarded 2nd place in the Watercolor division of the 2026 Art and Soul of Magic Valley exhibition in Twin Falls, Idaho.
