Tourtellotte’s Light
Light symbolizes hope and life. Often, in a world filled with dark things, we can lose sight of hope. Lose our way. Light is always there, beckoning us to return. To see the truth. That we are made for more...
I created this 36x48” piece for a client who was wanting to capture a memory from a photograph he'd taken on a night that meant a lot to him. The photo was stunning. Capturing the most beautiful colors and I was drawn to it. I spent three months working on it and it was a time of self-discovery, as I'd never painted anything like it or on that scale. The client was open to being part of me exploring this idea and seeing what came of it and we were both surprised at the outcome.
It's titled, "Tourtelotte's Light" after John Tourtelotte, the original architect of the Idaho State Capitol Building.
